Scarlett turns 4!

Our sweet Scarlett turned 4! She has waited and waited to be a big 4 year old. Both her cousins are 4 and her two best friends. Every morning for a week she would wake up and ask "Is the the seventeenth yet? Am I 4?" She was very excited when I finally said yes. Of course she loved opening her presents and begged all day to open them. I gave in and let her open a couple early, which resulted in squeals of delight. Her favorite presents are her Hello Kitty jewelry box (which played with so much she already broke it), her princess lip gloss, My Little Pony stuffed animal, and princess shoes. Notice a theme? Yes, she is a girly girl! She loves all things pink and sparkly. When ever I asked what she wanted for her birthday she said "Oh you know mom. A hello kitty watch and necklace and a hello kitty jewelry box." I have to admit...I am loving this girly, princess stage :)

Here are 4 things about this special 4 year old

1. She is very rule oriented. We have rules about keeping your seat belt on, not saying "bad" words, and being happy. Scarlett is very aware of these rules and makes sure we are all following them. Alice is always breaking the rules and Scarlett, not so nicely sometimes, reminds her. Nick takes his seat belt off before the car is off and gets reprimanded by her...every time! I slip up and say "bad" words and she calls me on the carpet. She loves to follow rules and choose the right.

2. Scarlett loves to be praised. I can never tell Scarlett enough how much I love her or how good of a girl she is. Her face beams when I notice something that she has done right and I tell her "good job". Her love language is for sure "words of approval"!

3.  She loves books! A couple months back Scarlett stopped taking naps. She still does quiet time in her room like a champ! Not once has she complained about resting and never gets out of bed (that's a rule:) I peek in on her sometimes and she is always laying on her bed looking at all her books. I hear her singing little songs or even reciting some of the books word for word! When I go to get her she says "Mom I am such a good girl. I was just reading my books and being very, very quiet".  We read to her every night before bed and she loves to pick out the story. Her favorite books are Curious George, Fancy Nancy, Little Critter, and what ever we check out from the library.

4. Scarlett is a sweet heart and is very aware of people's emotions, especially mine. If I am having a hard day or am just not at my best Scarlett knows it. She will come up to me and say "are you okay mom. I just love you!" She will then hug my legs and give me a big kiss. Nothing is more tender then her thoughtful hugs. If she hears a small child crying or being upset she asks "mom why are they crying. Can I go make them happy?" She has a kind heart. When Alice wakes up in the morning she wakes up grouchy! Scarlett will run in there and get her giggling almost every morning. Scarlett loves to tell me "mom, I made Alice happy for you". Her heart is pure!

Build-a Bear party with Charly

Opening her morning present and eating breakfast on the special birthday plate

Surprise cake at Joyschool. She was so excited to have all her little friends sing to her!

She helped make her cake and requested it be a Hello Kitty, My Little Pony, princess cake. Sheesh she has high demands.

Dont worry this was after the cake was frosted

Oh Scarlett your family loves you. Alice wants to do everything you are do and is lucky to have such a kind big sister. I love how you sing songs while we are in the car and even know some of the words to songs on the radio. Your voice is dainty and high pitched, it melts my heart. Dad loves that you always rush to the door to greet him when he gets home. He has told me over and over how that is his favorite part of the day. You make the room light up and everyone wants to be your friend!
