Christmas 2017

We had such a magical Christmas season and an even more magical Christmas morning. Nick and I stayed up ALL night putting all the toys together on Christmas Eve. Those kids hit the jackpot with scooters, wiggle cars, bikes, scooters, and a trampoline (which we surprised them with after all the presents were open). This year the girls wanted tons of hatchimals, American Girl doll cloths, other "small cool toys". So we unwrapped about 100 hatchimals and the kids went crazy!! They all were so grateful and polite and their faces were pure joy. My parents came over with Caity/Ryan to watch us open presents. There is just something so magical and wonderful about watching children open presents. We all loved it! We went over to Tiffany's house in the afternoon to spend time with Strobelts and then headed to my parents for Christmas dinner. It had to have been my favorite adult Christmas so far. The kids were totally into it this year and it was so fun taking part in all the magic/craziness/present giving/tradition making/fun times!! I just LOVED every second!

Giving our very own St. Nick a kiss. This man worked his tail off the night before to get everything ready for these kiddos!

Scarlett 8 year old

Scarlett is at such a growing up age! I have seen her change a lot over this last year. She went from little kid to full on big kid. She loves to spend time talking to me and asks all sorts of questions of life/the world. She has a great sense of humor and is super silly. I love hearing her knock knock jokes while I do her hair in the morning before school. Scarlett makes friends where ever she goes and I know kids like being around her because of her easy going feel and light hearted attitude. Scarlett also loves to play by herself. Her favorite toys these days are small hatchimals, shopkins and her American girl doll. While Alice and Jack watch a show in the afternoon after school Scarlett plays in her room. She has a huge imagination and can gets lost in her own little world all the time! Scarlett loves collecting small toys, writing stories about her friends, making books and then drawing pictures in them, helping me in the kitchen, and playing with Alice (and sometimes Jack but she mainly just teases him)

Scarlett has been having some struggles with school. She is extremely kind and well behaved (thank goodness) but is having a hard time keep up with the learning material especially reading and math. After months of working hard after school every day and going to a special reading class I am seeing major improvements. I am so proud of her! Every day after school she happily does about an hour of homework with me. I sit right next to her and we practice math facts, to worksheets, go over her spelling words, and do reading comprehension worksheets. Then in the evening she snuggles with Nick and reads for 30 minutes. It is a lot of work on all of us!! I am hoping that with time she gets faster and the time it takes gets less and less. I hate having her do homework for so long but I know that the one on one time with me and extra work is essential right now. But she is an early rise and a night owl so she gets her fun playtime and crafting in then! I wake up almost every morning after her and she is just playing by herself and having free rain of the house.

Scarlett you are a wonderful little girl and daughter! I am so impressed with your growing testimony of the Savior and your sweet desire to always choose the right. These past months I have seen you really come to understand that your Savior loves you and that happiness comes from following gospel principles. You are so ready to be baptized in a couple weeks and make those sacred covenants with your Heavenly father. Please remember how much your family loves you!!

Scarlett's 8th Birthday Party

Scarlett has talked about her birthday since last January. We would talk daily about what she wanted to do for her party and what presents she wanted. No one loves their birthday quite like Scarlett!! In the end and after months of deliberation she decided she wanted a big friend party at the house. I let her invite every person she wanted and it came out to be 20 friends!! It was a completely packed garage of kids. Scarlett wanted to do a craft so we made snowmen and penguin painted ornaments. The kids loved it and I was actually surprised how cute they turned out. Next Scarlett wanted to watch  Christmas movie and eat pizza. So we did it. She really wanted to go on a scavenger hunt but with such a big group of kids we decided on Christmas bingo instead. Finally we did Scarletts all time favorite party activity...the piñata!! One thing has been the same in all our birthday discussion and that is there had to be a piñata. I must say that the party was a blast and Scarlett LOVED it!

Dallas Thanksgiving 2017

We had such a great time in Dallas for Thanksgiving. Emily, her 5 kids, Clarah with Skylar and Hazel, and Mom and dad came down to Dallas too. It was a packed house!! He had so much fun going on a Dinosaur walk, making Thanksgiving dinner, going to Cowboy Stadium, and going to the American Girl store with Ella. The girls loved spending time with Ella playing school and house. Jack loved jumping on their trampoline and of course running wild. I loved seeing all my family and doing Black Friday with Brady! It is always sad when we leave and we promised the kids we would be back soon. We sure love visiting the Camps down in Dallas!
