October = Fall

The weather is finally cooling down, so that means its mid-70s. We have been spending lots of time outside enjoying it. Even though I love the change of season I always miss those warm summer nights. I stood on my balcony a couple nights back and let the "fallness" seep in, all while telling my self "summer is over and it's okay". I wrapped a blanket around me and looked at the stars until my feet were freezing. Then I ran upstairs and nursed Ali to sleep. I snuggled us up in a blanket and her warm, sleepy body lay perfectly in my arms. It was a perfect way to welcome Fall.

Just some fun pics of our October

I fed the real cat and she grabs her kitty to eat it

She just loves Halloween. She loves the spiders and pumpkins best. When ever we drive past a decorated house she yells "happy halloween mom" It has made the holiday so fun.

We have been eating a ton of honey crisp apples. They are a splurge but so worth it

We light these and Scarlett goes crazy with excitement

Many afternoons and mornings at the park

Of course eating lots of candy. See the chocolate ring around her mouth. We have a candy pumpkin jar and she sneaks candy any chance she can get. like right now for instance.

Playgroup cookie making

Super fun and adorable party with friends. Sara did such a great job with the food and fun games for the kids. Scarlett is still talking about it. As you can see Alice is going through a "mom i want you all the time" phase.

Girls are matching cupcakes for Halloween. They are edible!

At the beginning of the month we check out from the library tons of Halloween books. Scarlett has loved reading them. Her favorite is The Bumpy Little Pumpkin. So we let her pick out a pumpkin and well...

It goes everywhere around the house. It is just a tad too heavy for her, so it has tumbled down the stairs a few times. But it has survived.

Bed head!

Of course we have been experimenting with pumpkin muffin recipes. Here is my favorite so far... yellow cake mix plus 15 oz can of pumpkin, add some cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix and bake in cupcake pan for around 20-25mins. You have to check em with a toothpick. It took me 30 seconds to make and they are moist/yummy. I am gonna add nuts or chocolate chips next time.

Alice 8 months

She is purely delicious these days. I mean look at her, don't you want to eat her. Cause I do!

New Things
1. Is pulling her self up on everything and cruising around
2. Loves finger foods like cheerios and bread
3.  Will stay happy for hours as long as Scarlett plays with her. They get tons of toys out, make a huge mess, and are perfectly content. Ali just crawls around after her.
4. Is finally taking 2 good naps a day and puts her self to sleep.
5. Still nursing great
6. Is getting her top teeth in
7. When I pick her up she puts her arms around me, like a hug:)
8. Everything goes in her mouth. We have had to be very careful about what is on the floor.
9. Is super wiggly and wants to be crawling around not held. It is starting to make church difficult.
10. If she is crying or fussy she calms down with me and only me. She is totally into me!

oh and says "dada"

I love this age. She is starting get opinions and her spunk. She screams at Scarlett if she takes her toys away, she has some fight in her. But give it back and she is happy as can be. She fits so perfectly in our family and so glad she is part of it. We all love her!

My mom finished Alice's baby quilt. Isn't it adorable. The girls love to play on it and curl up on the coach with it and watch "Diego" (the most annoying show ever)

A friend in a sister

These two just love each other. They laugh and chat in the car, that might be my favorite thing. I look in my rear view mirror at them and just smile. Scarlett is always concerned if Ali does not have a toy in her hand and runs to get her one. When I am nursing Ali, Scarlett shoves toys at her yelling "here you go baby, i gots you toys". It's cute till it's annoying. Ali loves to get close to the edge of the stairs and Scarlett screams "no no baby" and drags her away by her legs. Scarlett always has a bag of cereal she is eating. She carries it around the house, I let her cause she is so, so tiny and needs the calories. Lately though, she has been giving it to Ali and together they make a huge cereal mess. Oh gosh. I vacuum daily.

watching cartoons and sneaking a sip from the coveted cup. It's mine Scarlett, just remember that!

New stuff in our home
1. Scarlett only takes naps like 3 days a week. She just stopped with no warning. I cried. Afternoons are not so peaceful
2. But Nick gets home at 4:30 now so he rescues me everyday and whisks Scarlett away to play
3. But Nick leaves at 6;30 to go to work so I have to wake up at 5 am to run with my sister. Yes people 5 am. Most shocking is that my sister is game. Thanks Emily!

She still loves to build temples but they are getting bigger. She is counting them here

We tried on our christmas outfits the other day. I bought them a year ago on clearance and wanted to make they fit. They did

The start of cheerio explosion

It has been nice weather and with Nick getting home early everyone goes outside. While I made dinner last week Nick and Scarlett drew this family portrait. 2 things. 1. Nick is always spelling Alice's nickname different (Aly, Ally, Alli, Ali). Hmmm. Though we decided on Ali?
2. Check out my nice"boots" as Scarlett calls them. Why did they even draw those? But thanks for being so generous.
