The weather is finally cooling down, so that means its mid-70s. We have been spending lots of time outside enjoying it. Even though I love the change of season I always miss those warm summer nights. I stood on my balcony a couple nights back and let the "fallness" seep in, all while telling my self "summer is over and it's okay". I wrapped a blanket around me and looked at the stars until my feet were freezing. Then I ran upstairs and nursed Ali to sleep. I snuggled us up in a blanket and her warm, sleepy body lay perfectly in my arms. It was a perfect way to welcome Fall.
Just some fun pics of our October
I fed the real cat and she grabs her kitty to eat it
She just loves Halloween. She loves the spiders and pumpkins best. When ever we drive past a decorated house she yells "happy halloween mom" It has made the holiday so fun.
We have been eating a ton of honey crisp apples. They are a splurge but so worth it
We light these and Scarlett goes crazy with excitement
Many afternoons and mornings at the park
Of course eating lots of candy. See the chocolate ring around her mouth. We have a candy pumpkin jar and she sneaks candy any chance she can get. like right now for instance.
Playgroup cookie making
Super fun and adorable party with friends. Sara did such a great job with the food and fun games for the kids. Scarlett is still talking about it. As you can see Alice is going through a "mom i want you all the time" phase.
Girls are matching cupcakes for Halloween. They are edible!
At the beginning of the month we check out from the library tons of Halloween books. Scarlett has loved reading them. Her favorite is The Bumpy Little Pumpkin. So we let her pick out a pumpkin and well...
It goes everywhere around the house. It is just a tad too heavy for her, so it has tumbled down the stairs a few times. But it has survived.
Bed head!
Of course we have been experimenting with pumpkin muffin recipes. Here is my favorite so far... yellow cake mix plus 15 oz can of pumpkin, add some cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix and bake in cupcake pan for around 20-25mins. You have to check em with a toothpick. It took me 30 seconds to make and they are moist/yummy. I am gonna add nuts or chocolate chips next time.
