April Fools

In the name of posterity I need to include this little jem. This April Fools was very uneventful, as they usually are. The usual joke and cellophane over the toilet kind of stuff. But 2 years ago was priceless, it makes me laugh just thinking about it.

When I was accepted into nursing school Nick quickly became scared that I would use him as my "practice dummy". I told him not to worry, that because I really love him I would practice on my class mates. Yet, he was still nervous. One day, midway through my first semester, we were taught how to put in a urinary catheter (don't know what it is... google). Lucky for me that day was April 1st. We were only given one catheter set and told to take it home and bring it the next day for our test. When I got home I pulled out my catheter set ( it was clean don't worry) and put it on the ottoman. I looked at Nick and in my most gentle and loving voice said "Nick do you love me?" Nick's eyes told me that he knew what it was and his reply was running down the stairs and hiding in the bathroom. He locked the door. Holding back laughing I begged him through the door to let me "practice"on him. I told him that I was being tested the next and was really nervous and needed his help.

"No Jill, absolutely not. Do you know where that thing goes?"

"Ummm Yes, but don't you want me to do well? If I don't practice on you I will fail"

"You have gotten enough A's in your life, just fail it"

I could hear him whimpering through the door.

"Nick this is really important. Please, please help me"

With that he opened the door and said "Okay just make it quick"

I busted up. I told him "April Fools". He fell to his knees in pure relief. I am pretty sure we laughed so hard we cried.

"I would have done it Jill"

"I know"
