The Family Proclaimation

Last Friday, June 26 2015, the Supreme Court ruled that gay marriage is legal in all 50 states. I am not surprised as this has been a debate for many years. I am not even disappointed. I know that this benefits many people and I have hope that it will unite many families. But I am also nervous for the repercussions. What doors does this open? What will happen to religious freedom? How do I teach my children that although it is lawful it is not what God wants? I pray and will continue to pray to understand this event. I know that God will help me teach my children the special bond and true nature of marriage. I want them to know that the institution of marriage is to be between a man and woman and that God created it that way for our happiness. The marriage of man and woman is different and special and always will be. It is only through this union that children can be created the way God desires.

This event and many others have shown me how our world is becoming overly accepting. Not all behavior is acceptable, as much as people want it to be. I want my children to understand that limitations are put on our behavior to protect us and to increase our happiness. I believe in a loving God, one that wants his children to be happy. True and eternal happiness is found when we follow the principles God created. I do not understand everything this new law entails or how it will impact my family but I do understand completely that God loves me, my family, and all others.

Lake Powell 2015

This Lake Powell was a little different than all others. It was rainy, overcast, slightly cool, and the water chilly. We actually did not even put the house boat in on the day planned because of a storm. Instead we went on a hike to see ----- and the Powell museum, all of which the kids loved. Yet Lake Powell was still magical and perfect. There is nothing more beautiful than the early morning mist on fog covering the lake or silver lined clouds. This place will always be my favorite on Earth and not even a little stormy weather can change that.

Even with the weather being cooler we still had some sunny moments and managed to get in all our favorite actives of skiing, cliff jumping, and boat rides. This year we even made it to Rainbow Bridge because we knew the boat ride and hike would not be so hot. The only thing I missed was my sweet Alice who stayed home with the Milnes. She is practicing her swimming super hard this summer so she can go next year! Oh next year can not come soon enough!!

Brynna's glitter tattoos were a hit!

Stormy weather means movies and...
card games!

Rain means sleeping in the kitchen

Jackson 7 Months

Little Jack continues to amaze every one with how pleasant and happy he is. Nothing can stop this kid from smiling and getting others to smile at him. He has the most joyful eyes and demeanor. We spent this past week at Lake Powell where he learned to sit up, scoot, and grew his first tooth! I love that he grabs everything and I mean EVERYTHING he can reach. Just last night he grabbed Nick's hair and nose and would not let go. Poor Nick was completely taken down by baby Jack. Scarlett and Alice love to sit with him and read to him. They make up little stories and show him pictures. Alice has to give him a hug and kiss before she goes down for a nap. They talk to him in baby talk saying "Jackie boy you are the bestest and cutest baby ever". He knows he is loved!

Scarlett's Preschool Graduation

Scarlett graduated preschool just a couple days ago. I have been a little weepy I'm not gonna lie. This year has just gone by way too fast and I am so releived to have half day kindergarten next year. I am not ready to give her up all day!! I love our afternoons together talking, reading, and snuggling.  Scarlett is the sweetest little girl with the most tender heart. She tries hard to take care of Alice and Jack and always gives them hugs and kisses. She gets excited about the little things like reading a special book or going somewhere in the car. This girl is the easiest to please and make happy. I love having her joyful spirit in my home!

Her preschool program was adorable and she sang so loud all her songs. We practiced at home before hand so she would not get nervous. She was most excited about being Saturn in the Planet Song. I loved watching her on stage smile and laugh with her friends.

She had the best teachers that just loved her. I am so impressed with all Scarlett has learned and I love hearing her read! She is one smart little cookie.

I dropped her off to this cute little classroom every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:30. She made instant friends and even had a little boyfriend who held her hand.

Holding Jack at home for the first time. She adores Jack and plays with him constantly. He does not fuss for more than 2 seconds that Scarlett is not there by his side to make him smile

Scarlett you are a light and a joy. I am excited to have the world get to know your sweet personality and see you shine in school! I love you.
