SHOTS

Sadly, Scarlett had her 2 month shots yesterday. She was of course drama. She cried for like 5-10 minutes after and then screamed the whole way home. Thank goodness for baby Tylenol, it saved my life. I just drugged her up and she slept most of the day ( I let her sleep on her stomach too, I am a bad mom). To be cruel I really liked yesterday. Scarlett is very active and not very snugly. She is always kicking and moving, even in her sleep. Yesterday all she wanted was for me to hold and love her. I did and I loved it. Is it really 2 more months until her other round of shots? ( like I said, bad mom)

All smiles in the morning... little did she know

Me loving all the snuggle action. It was like she was giving me a hug all day!

Drama. She would not move all day and did not want her pants on.

Okay so it did really hurt her. My heart hurt when they poked her and then they put on these adorable band aids.

Happy as a clam a day later!

Scarlett 2 Months

Looking up at daddy

6 weeks old... blessing day

2 months old exactly... after her bath and so, so happy

2 months old... dressing her up like a doll

My favorite!! I love my bald baby

I can not believe how fast the time has gone. I guess when you are sleep deprived time just goes faster. When she was born she was such a dream baby. I was so afraid that her "chill" disposition would change and... it hasn't. Hurray!! She still has her bad moments ( like 2 nights ago when she was up EVERY hour for some reason) but overall I could not ask for a more wonderful child. She eats good, sleeps good (usually up only once a night now) and because of these things is so, so happy. I get her up from her naps and she just smiles at me. I love it!

New Tricks
-smiles all the time
- found her hands and loves to suck on them (going to be a thumb sucker?)
- will look at you when you talk to her
- starting to reach for things
- getting stronger legs
- can pretty much keep her head up

What she loves
- kicking around on a blanket
- her swing!! (best purchase ever)
- being bounced on my knee ( that gets the biggest smile)
- being naked and taking baths/showers
- sleeping on her stomach (am I a bad mom?)
- her gas drops ( gruntying is gone and she is so much happier... I am too)

What she hates... her binki ( why oh why ). I see all these other babies her age sucking away on a pacifier. Scarlett spits it out everytime. Maybe one day, I will just keep trying.

With great grandma LaRue on her blessing day weekend.
She has all 8 of her great grandparents alive!!

I tried the other day to have her sleep on her back. She was peaceful like this for about 15 mintues and then screamed till I put her on her stomach.

That's a smile in case you are wondering :)

Classic Scarlett look. She was born with a furrowed brow.

MY LOVE!

Lucy Hanging Balls

I saw pictures of my sister-in-law, Cherise's, baby room with these hanging. I loved them. That was about 7 months ago and I finally have them done. I am by far the least crafty of my sisters so I am very proud of myself. Cherise got the idea from Pottery Barn's Lucy Hanging Balls. They are made of felt flowers and other little doodads. I am lazy. I just ripped off fake flowers and pinned them in. I just need to decide what to do with all these green walls. Sigh, my work is never done!

Me doing my daily laundry and Dixie doing daily unfolding. She just might end up in a box in front of Smith's with "for free" on it!

Notice Scarlett's baby sock. Oh, those are her favorite. She grabs them so fast and takes them to her secret lair. I already have a stash of lonely, unpaired baby socks.

Just because she is beautiful! She really is such a good sleeper.

Valentine's Day Weekend

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

It was time... time for me to finally get out of Vegas. It has been about 5 months since I have been up to our family cabin and I was dying to go. I mostly stayed inside for three days but it was nice to stare at different walls than my own. The weather was perfect and the company was great. Nate came down from BYU with Hannah, my parents were there with Caity and Clarah, and the Flakes came on Sunday afternoon. We had a great time watching movies and playing games.I think Nick enjoyed getting out of Vegas as well, being able to snowboard and snowmobile. He came home feeling rejuvenated and with a big smile, as did I. Oh, Scarlett loved it too. She was held by adoring family the whole time. What can I say, they love her!

She loved sitting next to the fire and being toasty warm. She is definitely my daughter!

Caity and Scarlett in their Valentine Day outfits.

I love her big red bow, it matches her name! Of course she only smiled for Nick. She just loves her dad.

My valentines!

When Emily came on Sunday ( Valentine's Day) we started making a "sweet heart" dinner. It included delicious cranberry/dijon chicken (aka "sweet heart" chicken") and rice, yummy pear salad, and rolls. It was a hitt and just might become our new family tradition. After dinner we played the newly wed game ( for the day of love ). It was a riot. Caity and Clarah were by far the best couple with spouts of "come on you don't know that" and " we just talked about this". Oh, they make me laugh.

My one dollar gift to Nick. Let's be honest, it makes you laugh. I must admit that I am team Jacob, but Nick still has my heart. Nick way out did me and got me a black Brian Head tee. Best part... it has a skull on it. He knows me so well.

On Monday I went snowmobiling with Nick. Guess what happened... we broke down.

But there was a great view ( nice booty Nick)! It was so fun and reminded me of when Nick and I were dating. So glad I married my best friend. Nate came shorty after we broke down and towed us back in.( P.S. It so was not our fault:)

Scarlett's Blessing Day

Little Scarlett Jocelyn was blessed by her dad on Feb. 7. I have looked forward to this day for a long, long time. Let me explain. When going through baby names in my head for the past year or so I would always imagine what it would sound like during her blessing... " We give this child a name and a blessing. The name she shall be known as is..." I would test out the name, if sounded good or not. When doing this with the name Scarlett it always sounded the best, that is why I chose that name ( Nick loved it to, of course). Scarlett Strobelt flowed so well ( I did not initially want a middle name but Nicked really like Jocelyn). So, to finally hear Nick give her a name and blessing was special moment. Of course I bawled, how could you not with her being such a sweet girl and Nick being the wonderful father he is. Nick gave her a very special blessing that I hope she comes to understand and appreciate. He blessed her to feel the spirit and listen to it's promptings, to understand her righteous lineage, to have her heritage give her strength, to be an righteous example to her future siblings, and to be a good daughter to her mother and help her as she grows ( my favorite part:). The day went so well with lunch at my parents house and a ton of pictures. I am so glad that my grandma and grandpa Woodbury and aunt Ginger could drive down. It meant so much to have them there. I am blessed to have this Gospel as part of my life, to know Scarlett is ours forever, and to have a righteous husband!

Cute, Little Shoes

I was cleaning all weekend and to be honest I still am. I have been in a full on "work mode" the last couple of days. Sadly, when I am in this mode I can be quite "angsty", short tempered" wanting to just be alone and clean. Nick just loves it ;). Yesterday I was hauling a garbage bag around the house throwing anything away that looked junky ( I did this while Nick was at work, what he doesn't know is gone he won't miss..hehe) Anyway, near the end of my garbage bag rampage I found these...

They were lying perfectly on the photo album. I smiled. I then proceeded to look through the photo album of all last years memories. I smiled again. I put the chucked full garbage bag away and woke Scarlett early from her nap. She fell back asleep after I put the shoes on her. Oh, I love having a baby. She just makes me happy.
